Players & Cards

Tong-Its is a game for three players only, using one standard Anglo-American deck of 52 cards (without jokers). The cards in each suit rank: Ace 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Jack Queen King. An Ace is worth 1 point, Jacks, Queens and Kings are worth 10 points each, and all other cards count their face value.

Objective

The object of the game is, by drawing and discarding, to form sets and runs, and to to minimize the count of unmatched cards remaining in your hand.

A run consists of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, such as ♥4, ♥5, ♥6 or ♠8, ♠9, ♠10, ♠J. (A-K-Q of a suit is not a run since aces are low in this game).

A set consists of three or four cards of the same rank, such as ♥7, ♣7, ♦7. A card can belong to only one combination at a time - you cannot use the same card as part of both a set and a run.

The Deal

The first dealer is chosen randomly. Thereafter the dealer is the winner of the previous hand. The cards are dealt one at a time counterclockwise, starting with the dealer: thirteen cards to the dealer and twelve cards to each of the other players. The remainder of the deck is placed face down to form the stock.

The Play

Each turn consists of the following:

Draw You must begin by taking one card from either the top of the stock or the top card on the discard pile, and adding it to your hand. You may only take a card from the discard pile if you are able to create a meld (a set or run) with it, and you are then obliged to expose the meld.

Exposing Melds If you have a valid meld or melds (sets or runs) in your hand you can expose any of them on the table in front of you. Melding is optional if a card was taken from the stock; you are not obliged to expose a meld just because you can, and note that melds held in hand do not count against you at the end of the play. A player must lay at least one meld on the table for the hand to be considered opened. In the special case that you can meld a set of four and you have not drawn from the discard pile to complete the meld, you can lay the set of four down face down. By doing this you can "open" your hand without losing the bonus payments for a secret set of 4 and without revealing the cards to the other players.

Laying off (sapaw) This is also optional. If you wish, you may add cards to sets or runs previously melded by yourself or others. There is no limit to the number of cards a player may lay off in one turn. A player need not have opened their hand to lay off. Laying a card off on another player's exposed meld prevents that player from calling Draw on his or her next turn.

Discard At the end of your turn, one card must be discarded from your hand and placed on top of the discard pile face up.

Giocatori e carte

Tong-Its è un gioco per soli tre giocatori, usando un mazzo anglo-americano standard di 52 carte (senza jolly). Le carte di ogni seme valgono: Ace 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Jack Queen King. Un asso vale 1 punto, Jack, Queens e Re valgono 10 punti ciascuno, e tutte le altre carte contano il loro valore nominale.

Obiettivo

Lo scopo del gioco è, disegnando e scartando, per formare serie e corse, e per minimizzare il conteggio delle carte non abbinate che rimangono nella tua mano.

Una corsa consiste di tre o più carte consecutive dello stesso seme, come ♥ 4, ♥ 5, ♥ 6 o ♠ 8, ♠ 9, ♠ 10, ♠ J. (A-K-Q di un seme non è una corsa poiché gli assi sono bassi in questo gioco).

Un set è composto da tre o quattro carte dello stesso valore, come ♥ 7, ♣ 7, ♦ 7. Una carta può appartenere a una sola combinazione alla volta: non puoi usare la stessa carta come parte sia di un set che di una corsa.

L'offerta

Il primo rivenditore è scelto a caso. Successivamente il mazziere è il vincitore della mano precedente. Le carte vengono distribuite una alla volta in senso antiorario, iniziando dal mazziere: tredici carte al banco e dodici carte a ciascuno degli altri giocatori. Il resto del mazzo viene posto a faccia in giù per formare il brodo.

The Play

Ogni turno è composto da quanto segue:

Pesca Devi iniziare prendendo una carta dalla cima del calcio o dalla carta in cima alla pila degli scarti, e aggiungendola alla tua mano. Puoi prendere una carta dalla pila degli scarti solo se sei in grado di creare una combinazione (una serie o una corsa) con essa, e sei quindi obbligato a esporre la combinazione.

Espansione di combinazioni Se hai una combinazione o combinazioni valide (serie o tiri) nella tua mano, puoi esporre qualcuno di loro sul tavolo di fronte a te. La fusione è facoltativa se una carta è stata presa dal magazzino; non sei obbligato a esporre una combinazione solo perché puoi, e nota che le combinazioni che hai in mano non contano contro di te alla fine del gioco. Un giocatore deve posizionare almeno una combinazione sul tavolo affinché la mano venga considerata aperta. Nel caso speciale in cui puoi fondere un set di quattro e non hai pescato dalla pila degli scarti per completare la combinazione, puoi posare il gruppo di quattro verso il basso. In questo modo puoi "aprire" la tua mano senza perdere i pagamenti bonus per un set segreto di 4 e senza rivelare le carte agli altri giocatori.

Posa (sega) Anche questo è opzionale. Se lo desideri, puoi aggiungere carte a set o piste precedentemente combinate da te o da altri. Non c'è limite al numero di carte che un giocatore può licenziare in un turno. Un giocatore non deve aver aperto la mano per licenziare. Stendere una carta sulla combinazione esposta di un altro giocatore impedisce a quel giocatore di chiamare Pareggio nel suo prossimo turno.

Scarta Alla fine del tuo turno, una carta deve essere scartata dalla tua mano e posta sopra la pila degli scarti a faccia in su.
